Tooth-Colored Fillings
Rieser Family Dental Offers Virtually Undetectable Fillings
Are you experiencing pain or discomfort in your mouth? If so, the cause may be a cavity. To ensure you get the proper care, consider visiting our offices for an exam as soon as possible. Patients are often wary about getting tooth fillings, because they think that people will be able to see the filling when they talk, laugh, or even open their mouth. Although this used to be the case with silver fillings, advanced technology gives patients the option of getting tooth-colored fillings that blend seamlessly with the surrounding enamel.
Tooth-colored fillings—sometimes referred to as composite fillings—are a more attractive alternative to silver or amalgam. When patients come to our office in St. Charles, Wentzville, or Washington to get a tooth-colored filling, we match it with the natural color of their teeth, providing them with a filling that is virtually undetectable.
What Is a Tooth-Colored Filling?
Serving the same purpose as silver amalgam fillings, tooth-colored fillings instead use composite resin to fill cavities. With the advancement of new materials and technologies, the dental industry now has an option that is just as strong as the traditional silver but not nearly as visible. This is why tooth-colored fillings have become increasingly popular over time.
How Do They Work?
When you come in to Rieser Family Dental for your filling, we will prepare the affected tooth to ensure the entire cavity is addressed. A tooth preparation is created and used to remove any organic residue before the tooth-colored resin fills the cavity and bonds to the tooth. We will then carefully sculpt any excess resin to recreate the shape and curvature of a normal tooth with such precision and skill that the filling will blend in naturally with the rest of your teeth. Once the resin has hardened with the help of a special light, the tooth will be smoothed and polished. Finally, we will check your bite by ensuring that it feels normal to you and that the filling is not deformed.
